Michael Christopher has released a video for his acoustic version of “Ring of Fire.” The song was written by June Carter Cash and Merle Kilgore, and was recorded by Johnny Cash. Recorded on March 25, 1963, it became the biggest hit of Cash’s career, claiming the top spot on the country chart for seven weeks.
“This song is a big part of country music’s history,” Michael said. “Considering who wrote it and who recorded it, this is always a favorite when we play this live. Plus, it’s a lot of fun to play.”
This video for “Ring of Fire” is part of an acoustic series filmed at the Kresge Theatre on Carnegie Mellon’s campus in Pittsburgh, PA. It features performances of some of Michael’s favorite songs, past and present, across the country music genre and beyond.
This just in… Michael Christopher has been confirmed to open for rising country star Chris Lane on November 30th at Jergels Rhythm Grille in Warrendale, PA!
Lane released his debut single, “Broken Windshield View,” to country radio in June 2014 via Big Loud Mountain Records. His second single, “Fix,”reached the number one spot on the Country Airplay chart in August 2016. His latest tune, “For Her,” was released August 29, 2016. Both songs are off his new album, ‘Girl Problems,’ which he has been touring relentlessly in support of since its release.
After moving to Nashville in 2013, his career took off, hitting the stage with the likes of The Band Perry, Eli Young Band, Lee Brice, Chris Young, and Brantley Gilbert. He opened for Florida Georgia Line on their “This is How We Roll” tour in 2014.
This promises to be another great show at Jergels, and Michael is excited to be a part of it.
“Chris is on the way up, that’s for sure,” Michael says. “He has a great album out right now, and we’re looking forward to this show with him here in a few weeks.”
